How long can I hire a garment for?

For all garments, we offer a 4-day or 8-day rental period. The rental period begins on the day you select your item to arrive. If you live in a rural area, we recommend you book an 8-day hire.

What if my garment doesn't fit?

At House of Hire, we offer try-ons locally as well as extensive sizing advice online. However, a store credit for the value of the hire, minus a $30 cancellation fee, can be awarded. We can also organise to exchange for another garment.

Do I need to clean the garment?

No, cleaning is on us! We carefully handwash all items.

As per our T&C's there may be extra charges in severe cases for dry cleaning, repair, or replacement.

How can I cancel or change my order?

Please contact us via direct message on Instagram to cancel or change an order.


How much does delivery cost?

For express postage, which includes a prepaid return satchel for your convenience, we charge $25.

How do I remove creases in my garment?

We steam all garments before hiring. If you receive a garment with slight creasing - please DO NOT IRON. Instead, steam on low heat or hang it in your bathroom while you shower (the steam will help remove creases).

What if I damaged my garment?

Please contact us immediately if you damage the garment in any way.

You will be liable to cover repair costs. If the garment is not repairable, you will be charged the replacement value.

Can we ship Australia wide?

Yes, we can! We ship to all locations using Express next day delivery.

What sizes do you stock?

Currently, our hire collection ranges in sizes AU 6-12. As our business grows, we intend to expand our size range as soon as possible.

How do I return my garment?

Simply place the prepaid return satchel (provided with your order) in any YELLOW express post box or post office. Or, you can drop-off locally on the Gold Coast.

What if I return my garment late?

We depend on our customers returning their dresses on time so we can send it to the next customer. 

If you return your rental late, a late fee will be charged to your credit card, as per our T&C's.

What if I lose my return satchel?

In the unfortunate circumstance that you lose your pre-paid satchel, you will be required to purchase a satchel at your own expense. This must be an Australia Post Express Post satchel. Please notify us immediately if you have lost your satchel.

How long does it take for my garment to be delivered?

Generally, the estimated delivery time is 1-3 business days. Next business day delivery is possible for the below areas.

If your location is not listed below, your hire will take longer to arrive. In this case, we urge you to book an 8-day hire.

(Order before 1pm AEST): Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Latrobe Valley, Seymour, Shepparton, Wodonga.


(Order before 1pm AEST): Brisbane, Gold Coast, Booval/ Ipswich, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Strathpine/ Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba.


(Order before 1pm AEST): Adelaide


(Order before 1pm AEST): Hobart, Launceston


(Order before 1pm AEST): Perth (CBD only!).

What if my rental period ends on a Sunday or public holiday?

No problem, we will be aware of this. Simply return the garment the following business day before 3pm.

What if my parcel doesn't arrive on time due to postage delays?

Since COVID, Australia Post has been experiencing postage delays. House of Hire works hard to ship all hires early to ensure timely deliveries. If we believed a garment would not reach you in time, we would not proceed with the order. We cannot be held responsible for unforseen delays but can however offer you a 110% store credit once the item is returned to us, unworn. House of Hire cannot be held liable for courier processes, thus refunds are not available.
